Massachusetts’ Most Expensive and Bougie Hot Dog
If you thought you’d seen it all when it came to hot dogs, think again.
Dukie’s Doggz in Dartmouth just dropped something that might make you do a double take at the menu and your wallet. We’re talking about a caviar-topped hot dog, and it’s not just for show, either. Owner Angie DeBortoli proudly said, “We put caviar on a hot dog and we’re not sorry.”
Now, I've seen some crazy concoctions when it comes to hot dog toppings, but this one caught my eye and stopped me in my tracks while scrolling on Instagram.
More Than Just a Hot Dog
This isn’t your typical ketchup-and-mustard situation. DeBortoli told me the idea actually came from a spot she saw down in Miami, where a similar creation was going for a jaw-dropping $100. That’s when it clicked: why not bring that same over-the-top energy to her hot dog stand in Dartmouth?
So here’s what you’re getting:
- Kobe beef hot dog
- Crème fraîche with dill and green onions
- Pickled red onions
- California white sturgeon caviar
It’s rich, it’s layered, and according to DeBortoli, the caviar itself brings a “creamy, salty, buttery, nutty flavor” to the whole thing. Not exactly what you expect when you walk up to a hot dog stand.
Let’s Talk Price
Alright, here’s the most important question I had for DeBortoli: how much is she charging?
One Caviar Dog will run you $50, but if you’re feeling bold (or bringing a friend), you can grab two for $80. Believe it or not, people are actually buying them. DeBortoli said the first batch sold out in just two days, which is wild to me, yet highly impressive.
Turning Heads Beyond the Golf Course
If you remember, Dukie’s Doggz started as a go-to spot near the New Bedford Country Club, but DeBortoli said she’s now seeing more and more people pulling up from the street.

A friendly reminder that her hot dog stand is open to anyone, not just people teeing off on the golf course, and that's been a message she's been trying her best to get out there.
What’s Next?
As if caviar on a hot dog wasn’t enough, DeBortoli is already thinking about her next big swing: a lobster-topped hot dog. Yep, you read that right: a SouthCoast-style surf-and-turf dog might be on deck.
At the end of the day, this is what makes spots like Dukie’s Doggz so fun. It’s not just about grabbing a quick bite. It’s about creativity and taking risks, and whether you think it’s genius or completely outrageous, it’s definitely the most expensive hot dog on the SouthCoast.
