Massachusetts Mail Delivery Is the Worst in the Nation
If you thought the United States Postal Service was doing a poor job delivering the mail in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, you are correct.
The USPS Office of Inspector General says, "The Postal Service's ability to acceptable service is an ongoing concern across the United States."
The Postal Service's long-stated motto of "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds" might sound laughable to some, especially those who live in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

The Bay State and Ocean State share last place in the USPS Office of Inspector General's Service Performance Review. Not a good place to be.
Patch.com's Neal McNamara reports, "A recent USPS Office of Inspector General report ranked the two states in the bottom ten states for on-time delivery of single pieces of first class mail with two-day delivery."
McNamara says, "That type of mail was only delivered on time about 84.2 percent of the time in the second quarter of 2024, almost ten percentage points lower than the target of 93 percent."
The United States Postal Service says weather conditions and changes in the sorting process are partly responsible for the delivery issues in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
The USPS Office of Inspector General says, "It is critical that service performance be properly tracked, measured, and reported transparently."
The Inspector General's Office vows to update the public with its "most recent service reports and data to track the Postal Service's progress in this area."
