Sunday is the last day of business for Ma's Donuts in New Bedford's North End.

The landmark shop on Acushnet Avenue will be closing its doors after more than 60 years of serving area residents fresh-brewed coffee and homemade, hand-cut donuts.

Shelia Lemieux co-owns the business with her husband, Eddie and has been part of Ma's Donuts for more than 30 years. She tells WBSM News, she will miss the loyal customers who showed up day after day. "They're our life you know. This is all we know. Their not just our customers anymore, they're our family.

There was a line of customers extending out the door and down the street on Saturday morning, and more of the same is expected on Sunday.

Shelia says closing the doors at Ma's Donuts will be bittersweet, but she's happy she and her husband can now attend family events they've missed in the past, and take a vacation...the first one in 40 years.

The business itself will remain on the market.
