SEEKONK — The man struck and killed on I-195 in Seekonk last week has been identified.

Massachusetts State Police say the victim of the October 3 crash has been identified as 56-year-old Peter Weaver, of Cranston, R.I.

Troopers assigned to the State Police-Dartmouth Barracks responded to reports of the incident on I-195 West between Exits 1 and 2 in Seekonk.

Upon arrival, Troopers discovered Weaver lying unconscious in the left travel lane after having been struck by a 2019 Toyota Rav4. The operator of the Toyota remained on scene and fully cooperated with police.

A preliminary investigation indicates that for reasons currently unknown, Weaver was walking eastbound in left travel lane of I-195 West before he was struck by the car.

Weaver was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

State Police say the facts and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by Troopers assigned to the Dartmouth Barracks with assistance from the State Police Collison Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, Bristol County State Police Detective Unit, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
