Just a few hours before his winning ticket was to expire, Dennis Cote of Ware arrived at Massachusetts Lottery headquarters in Braintree to claim his $25,000 a year for life prize from the “Lucky for Life” drawing held Sept. 26, 2013.

Cote discovered that he won several months ago after checking a number of different tickets that he had purchased.  He cited a desire to take time to do some financial planning and a busy schedule as reasons for waiting to claim his prize.  Winners of this “Lucky for Life” prize have one year from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.

Cote scored the multi-state game’s number two prize by matching the first five numbers in the drawing correctly.  He chose his winning numbers (03-07-12-23-28) completely at random.  Cote received his winnings in the form of a one-time cash payment of $390,000 (less taxes).  He plans to use his winnings to assist with mortgage payments and investments.
