Massachusetts Man’s Numbers Finally Win Jackpot After 30 Years
Am I the only one in the Bay State to never strike it big with the Massachusetts State Lottery? It sure seems that way sometimes.
Of course, I suppose you have to play the lottery to win. Since I never seem to win, I don't play very often. Since I don't play, I don't win.
Some folks seem to win and then win again. Is there a magic formula that escapes me or just luck? Perhaps the key to success is consistency and persistence.
Take the story of Kevin Connor of the Rochdale neighborhood of Leicester. Connor won a $2.64 million jackpot playing the Mass Megabucks game on August 24.
WBZ reports, "Connor said he has been playing the same Megabucks numbers for over thirty years," according to Massachusetts State Lottery officials.
"He plays a combination that consists of his wife's old landline number from when they first started dating, as well as his wife's favorite number," the Lottery reported.
WWLP 22 News says Connor, "claimed his prize on Monday at the Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters in Dorchester." The station reported Connor "opted for a one-time payment of $1.87 million before taxes."
Being consistent and persistent are valuable lessons to be learned from Connor. Also, remember your wife's old phone number.
Connor purchased the winning ticket at Hillcrest Country Club after finishing a round of golf.
WBZ quoted the Lottery saying Connor "plans on using some of his winnings to pay for his children's college tuition and buy himself some new socks."
Nice going, Kevin.
