Massachusetts Losing Lucky for Life Lottery Game, But Gaining New Millionaire Game
The Lucky for Life lottery game is scheduled to end in February 2026 and will be replaced by the new Millionaire for Life game. Massachusetts is one of nearly two dozen states and the District of Columbia that offer Lucky for Life, having adopted the game in 2012.
The History of Lucky for Life
Lucky for Life first launched an in-state game, Lucky 4-Life, in Connecticut on March 29, 2009. In March 2012, the game expanded to all six New England States and was re-branded as New England's Lucky for Life. By 2015, more than a dozen other states joined in, and the name changed again to Lucky for Life.
Tickets for the new Millionaire for Life game will cost $5 instead of the $2 it costs to play Lucky for Life, and the top prize will be $1 million per year for life.
What Millionaire for Life Will Offer Players
Millionaire for Life combines Lucky for Life and Cash4Life into a single game. At least 33 state lotteries are expected to offer the new Millionaire for Life game when it launches on February 22, 2026.

Massachusetts Lottery’s Role in the Change
State House News Service reported, "Massachusetts Lottery Executive Director Mark William Bracken said the decision on the multi-state draw game was made through a consortium vote in an effort to merge Lucky for Life and Cash4Life into a singular game as a more advanced product for its players."
Lottery.net says, "It couldn't be much simpler to play Millionaire for Life."
The Massachusetts Lottery Commission voted unanimously to join the new game.
According to SHNS, "Monthly Lucky for Life ticket sales have fluctuated over the past three years from $3.5 million to $4.6 million."
Drawings for the new Millionaire for Life game will be held daily.
