Allegheny Technologies Incorporated has ordered a lockout notice that will affect 2,000 employees including those working at the New Bedford plant at 1357 E Rodney French Blvd

ATI Spokesman Dan Greenfield says The lockout takes effect Saturday and that ATI will continue to operate the affected facilities with ATI salaried and non-union employees and temporary professional staffing until a new contract can be finalized with the union.

USW Local 1357 in New Bedford confirmed the news on their Facebook page saying the plant manager made the announcement Friday morning and that everyone except those in the shipping department are being told to leave Friday.

The United Steelworkers of America says they will be issuing an official statement momentarily.

ATI and the union have been engaged in  negotiations since May regarding a new contract after the old contract expired
