FAIRHAVEN — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation says there will be lane closures on Interstate 195 in the eastbound and westbound lanes in Fairhaven on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

The closures will be implemented between 10 p.m. on Tuesday until 5 a.m. on Wednesday in the area near New Boston Road. MassDOT says the closures will be for periods that will not exceed 20 minutes at a time.

The temporary closures are necessary for the permanent relocation of utility lines over I-195 at the New Boston Road overpass.

MassDOT says if the work is not completed during the scheduled lane closures, the highway will be re-opened to traffic with the agency scheduling subsequent closures as warranted.

Drivers are encouraged to reduce speed and use caution while approaching and traveling through the work zone and to plan for extra travel time through the area.

All MassDOT work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
