Lakeville Woman’s Death in Taunton Being Investigated as Suspicious

TAUNTON — Authorities are investigating the death of a 26-year-old Lakeville woman as suspicious after she died in Taunton on Wednesday night, according to a release from the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.

Taunton police were called to an apartment at 52 Tremont St. at around 11 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 for a report of a woman suffering from a gunshot wound, the office stated.

First responders arrived to find the victim, later identified as Colby Dowling of Lakeville, with unspecified injuries.

Dowling was declared dead at the scene, according to the statement.

The D.A.'s office said several people were inside the residence when the incident took place.

Bristol County prosecutors, state police detectives, and Taunton police are actively investigating.

No further information is being released.
