Lakeville Police: ‘Stressed’ Driver Left Amazon Packages in Woods
LAKEVILLE (WBSM) — A mystery has been solved, as Lakeville Police now know why about 80 Amazon packages were left in a wooded area in town early Sunday morning.
After news of the mysterious package dump broke on Monday afternoon, an Amazon driver visited the Lakeville Police Department to explain what happened.
According to Police Chief Matthew Perkins, the driver told police that they left packages on the side of the road at about 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 21 “because they were stressed.”
Perkins said the driver planned to report the incident to their manager.
"I am proud of the way our Lakeville Police officers handled and investigated this matter. At this time, we are not seeking criminal charges and are considering this a human resources matter for Amazon," Chief Perkins said.

On Sunday, Dec. 22 at approximately 2 a.m., Sgt. Shawn Robert was on routine patrol when he noticed items unattended in a wooded area near 63 Bedford Street. Upon further investigation, Sgt. Robert determined they were three large totes full of Amazon packages that were spread out several feet into the woods.
Officers loaded the totes onto a pickup truck and brought them back to the Lakeville Police headquarters, and they were later returned to the Amazon distribution center in Middleboro.
