SEEKONK (WBSM) — A Seekonk man was killed in a single-vehicle crash early this morning.

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III said the crash occurred shortly before 1:21 a.m. Seekonk Police and Massachusetts State Police both responded to a 911 call reporting a vehicle had crashed into the wooded median near mile marker 2.4 in Seekonk on Interstate 195 westbound, reportedly at a high rate of speed.

Car Found With “Catastrophic Damage” in Median

Police arrived to find a silver Honda Fit with what the D.A.’s Office called “catastrophic damage” in the center of the wooded area in the median. The vehicle had struck several trees.

Victim Identified as 29-Year-Old Seekonk Man

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle – identified as Joseph Gagliardi, 29, of Seekonk – was found in the grass median with significant injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police and State Investigators Reviewing Incident

The crash remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police, Seekonk Police and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
