Is Joe Biden Really the Best They’ve Got? [OPINION]

For a second consecutive election cycle, the Democrats have put up a scandal-plagued candidate as their standard-bearer. Hillary Clinton was and continues to be neck-deep in scandals and controversy, and now Joe Biden makes her look like Mother Theresa if you believe the serious allegations made against him.

What is sad and a bit scary is that Hillary Clinton actually won the popular vote. Thank God the forefathers were smart enough to establish the Electoral College. I shudder to think where we would be without it.

And then there is Biden. There are glaring indications that Biden may have broken the law. Though yesterday's New York Post bombshell article brings those allegations into clearer focus, evidence of potentially illegal activity has been largely ignored by authorities and the media for years.

Add to all of that Biden's diminished capacity to meet the rigorous daily demands of the campaign trail, and his obvious issues with memory and perhaps even dementia, and you have to ask yourself – is this the best they've got?

A review of the field of candidates for the Democrat presidential nomination from last spring indicates that yes, perhaps Biden is their best offering. Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Beto O'Rourke, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, Michael Bloomberg, and others who were even less inspiring than Biden auditioned for the job of the party nominee.

A team without a solid bench generally doesn't get far into the playoffs. But this being 2020 and the media being what it is, Biden has a real chance to win this thing next month. And that should scare the crap out of everyone.
