We had a call on the morning show today from a woman who said she and her husband had gone to Stop & Shop (she did not say which one) to just run in and get an item. Her husband waited in the car, with the car running, in front of the store. He did pull up so that he was not blocking the door, but when I asked if he was still in the fire lane, she said "Yes."

Her husband ended up getting a ticket. She was upset because she was only in the store for four minutes. She thought a warning would have been sufficient. What do you think?

We had a number of calls throughout the show and every single one of them agreed with the man getting a ticket. All of our callers said you cannot park in the fire lane and this includes the times you "will only be a minute." I see it all the time. More so at pharmacies like CVS or Brooks.

Whenever I'm in that situation, if my wife is just running in to pick up a card or a loaf of bread, I either find a spot, or I will drive around in circles in the parking lot until it's time to swing by the front and pick her up.

It surprised me that no one called in this woman's defense because, if we keep seeing people doing it, why does everyone say it is the wrong thing to do?
