MATTAPOISETT — Four people were injured in a car crash in Mattapoisett on Monday.

Police Chief Mary Lyons says the crash took place on Brandt Island Road before 6 p.m. when the driver lost control of the car, hit a tree, and rolled over.

All four male occupants were transported to area hospitals to be treated for unknown injuries. Two were transported to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, with the other two being transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

Chief Lyons says excessive speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

Brandt Island Road was closed for a short time as emergency responders cleared the scene of the crash.
