FALL RIVER - Two men are under arrest after Fall River Police say they stabbed a taxi driver and tried to shoot him.

The taxi driver told police he was dropping the men off near Slade Street around 10:20 Thursday night when one of the men put a gun to the driver's head and demanded money. The driver put up a struggle and tried to grab the gun when the second suspect joined in the assault and stabbed the driver several times before the victim was able to escape. One of the men fired his gun as the driver ran away, but all of the shots missed.

The driver was treated at the scene.

Police soon found the suspects, Carlos Collazo and Luis Cruz-Soto, and placed them under arrest.

Police are investigating if the incident is related to an earlier shooting in Fall River where a 21-year-old man was shot in the head.
