Fall River Fire Update: Woman Thought Dead Is Alive
UPDATE: The Bristol County District Attorney's Office said Ms. Cropper passed away from her injuries on Friday, July 18 at 4:43 p.m.
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — The woman who was identified Thursday as the 10th victim in the Gabriel House Assisted Living Center fire in Fall River is still alive and remains in critical condition, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
The D.A.’s Office said Friday morning that due to “a miscommunication with a medical agency,” it had erroneously reported that Brenda Cropper had passed away as a result of Sunday night’s fire.
“The BCDAO has been in contact with Ms. Cropper’s family regarding this matter,” the D.A.’s Office said.

Cropper, 66, suffered burns over most of her body and was given a 10 percent chance of survival, according to WPRI.
