Fairhaven Staples Launches ‘Bin Wins’ Bargain Hunt Experience
FAIRHAVEN (WBSM) — A new feature at the Fairhaven Staples store is going to have deal diggers and markdown mavens saying, “That was easy.”
It’s called Bin Wins, where the thrill of the hunt is just as valuable as what you might find.
Last year, I told you that Saugus, Massachusetts was getting the first Bin Wins store in the country, and even today, it is one of just four full-fledged Bin Wins “experiences” in the U.S. The others are in Brooklyn, New York, Auburn, Maine and Seabrook, New Hampshire.

What Is Bin Wins?
Bin Wins sells returned and overstocked merchandise at discounted prices, with a sliding scale of what you will pay for each item based on the day of the week.
Many of the items are Amazon returns (which the Fairhaven Staples now takes). It’s similar to the late, great Binstar store that came and went in the blink of an eye in Avon, Massachusetts back in 2024.

How Bin Wins Pricing Works
For Bin Wins, new items are stocked in the bins on Fridays at $15 each. The price is reduced to $12 on Saturday, and then drops to $10 on Sundays. Mondays, all items are $8. On Tuesdays, they’re $6 and Wednesdays, all items are $4 each. They reach rock-bottom pricing on Thursdays at $2 per item.
Where You’ll Find Bin Wins Locations
The Fairhaven store is what is known as a “pop-up” Bin Wins location, according to the Staples website. There are only two bins in the store, located directly in front of the Staples return desk. Other “pop-up” Bin Wins in our area include the Fall River, Falmouth and Raynham Staples locations. The closest “full” Bin Wins experience is still the Saugus location, with multiple bins to sift through to find deals.

What Shoppers Can Expect in the Bins
I visited on a recent Thursday to see what was in the bins for $2 an item, and then returned again the next day to see what could be found after the Friday $15 fill-up.
On Thursday, I found a Berenstain Bears Christmas DVD, multiple packages that contained scissors-ruler combos, scented candles, some kind of Japanese hair dye shampoo, something called “suction cup spinner toys,” and a package of granola bars that had expired in March of this year.
Oh, and the highlight: a 360-degree adjustable hernia belt with two removable compression pads. I don’t have a hernia, so I didn’t snatch it up, but for $2 some herniated person is going to be feeling pretty darn good.

On Friday, the $15 restock had a few more treasures. There were remote-control trucks, a bread-proofing basket, a pickleball set, a child’s werewolf costume just in time for Halloween, a rotating slow-feeder dog bowl, a set of airtags and more.
Why Bargain Hunters Love the Thrill
Are each of those items worth $15? Probably not, but half the fun of Bin Wins is going back as the price drops to see just when you can grab it at your “right” price.
If you’re a thrifter, a yard saler, a bargain hunter like me, you’re going to want to add Bin Wins into your rotation of deal-hunting spots. Just leave some good stuff for me.
