DARTMOUTH (WBSM) — It looks like Super Bowl Sunday won’t just be the last game of the NFL season, it will also be the last day for Riko’s Pizza in Dartmouth, at least as we know it.

The restaurant has a sign on its door that is alerting customers that Super Bowl Sunday will be its last day of operations as Riko’s, but that a new restaurant is set to open in its place.

It sounds like it will have a completely different name, menu and overall vibe.

The letter on the door reads as such:

Dear Riko’s Customers, We’re writing to let you know that our last day of operations will be February 9th, 2025 (Super Bowl). We want to thank you for your patronage and support over this past year. It has been a pleasure serving you. But this isn’t goodbye! We’re excited to announce that we will be reopening as a brand new restaurant! We’re working behind the scenes to create a fresh and exciting dining experience for you. Stay tuned for updates on our reopening, including our new name, menu, and atmosphere. We can’t wait to welcome you back! Sincerely, WC Group Inc.

Riko’s, which specializes in hot oil pizza and salads, opened in the former Buster’s Sports Bar and Grill and T.K. O’Malley’s space in May 2024, the chain’s 11th overall restaurant but first in Massachusetts.

The franchisees had signed a “multi-year” lease agreement with property owner Mike Panagakos back in September 2023, after the property had sat empty since Buster’s had closed in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
