DARTMOUTH — Police in Dartmouth are investigating an armed robbery that took place at a local liquor store on Tuesday night, and they're asking for information from the public.

Dartmouth Police spokesman Det. Kyle Costa said officers responded to the reported armed robbery at Acme Liquors in the Big Value Plaza on Dartmouth Street at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators found that an unknown suspect dressed in black came into the store, brandished a gun, and demanded money from the clerk.

After getting an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect left through a rear door and was last seen running towards Sol E Mar Street, Costa said.

He is described as a short man with a stocky build.

Dartmouth police are investigating, and have asked anyone with any information on the incident or the suspect to contact the department at 508-910-1775 or leave an anonymous tip through the Tip411 system.
