DARTMOUTH - Dartmouth Police arrested A New Bedford man on Saturday after fleeing a Target location with about $500 in merchandise.

As he responded to the call, Officer Darren Emond observed 34-year old Jimmy Guzman Hernandez turn his 2004 Nissan Quest, which he was seen fleeing in, onto Wolcott Avenue from State Road.

Officer Emond later located the vehicle on Pinehurst Street when Hernandez fled the vehicle and ran into the woods.

Authorities were able to successfully locate and arrest Hernandez with the assistance of Dartmouth Police K-9 Officer Jared White and his K-9 partner “Reaper”.

Hernandez was charged with larceny over $250 and unlawful deactivation or removal of a theft detection device as a result of his arrest.
