The Dartmouth Police Department will soon be under review to renew it's state accreditation.

Acting Police Chief Robert Szala says a team of assessors from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission will begin the review process on September 15.

Dartmouth Police spokesman Detective Kyle Costa tells WBSM News the review process leaves no stone unturned. "It's a three-member panel that actually comes to the station itself and they go through everything from policy and procedures to our evidence room, everything with a fine-tooth comb," says Costa.

The accreditation program consists of 257 mandatory standards and 125 optional standards.

The Dartmouth Police Department was initially accredited in May of 2012.
