If you've driven past Dartmouth Mall recently, you may have noticed a significant development: gates have been installed around the area where the old Sears Auto Center once stood.

Believe me, this is exciting news.

In case you haven’t heard, there's a new Chick-fil-A taking over the parking lot and these gates are a sure sign that construction is soon to be underway- as a part of a broader plan to revitalize the Dartmouth Mall area, with the restaurant playing a major role in this vision.

During Town Meeting back in 2024, several logistical and safety concerns were discussed, including traffic flow, parking, landscaping adjustments and the project timeline. Again, the newly-installed gates signify the beginning of this long-awaited redevelopment.

Potential Parking Problems

Concerns were raised about the parking area near the mall's main exit, which could pose a potential safety hazard. Suggestions included alternative parking solutions and additional road markings to improve traffic flow and prevent confusion during construction.

The meeting also highlighted a commitment to addressing community concerns about accessibility, ensuring the new development integrates smoothly with the area while minimizing disruptions.

As construction progresses, noticeable changes are expected in the coming months. While there may be temporary adjustments to traffic patterns and limited access to certain areas around the mall, these short-term inconveniences will lead to long-term improvements.

So what does this mean for Chick-fil-A fans of Dartmouth and surrounding areas?

A shorter drive with easier access and convenience.

Be patient, those spicy chicken sandwiches are worth the wait.
