Carl Alves Is Sister Rose Award Winner

The winner of this year's Sister Rose Award has been working in the human service field in New Bedford for more than 20 years.

Carl Alves is the executive director of PAACA and member of the Homeless Service Providers Network. He was presented the award Thurday during the celebration of Community Development Block Grant Week.

The Sister Rose Award is named after Sister Rose Gallogly, the former director of Market Ministries, and a founding member of the Homeless Service Providers Network.

Organizers say the award is rooted in the belief that every person is entitled to live in dignity.
