BROCKTON (WBSM) — A Brockton who allegedly shot and injured a Fall River woman at an apartment over the weekend has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges.

Jonathan Pires Alves, 27, pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault to murder, assault and battery, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of building, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and a firearm violation with one prior violent or drug crime.

He was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.

According to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office, Brockton Police received a 911 call on Sunday, June June 2 at approximately 1:42 a.m. for a report of gunshots heard around 31 Falconer Avenue.

At that time, police found a 31-year-old female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center for treatment.

An investigation by Brockton Police and Massachusetts State Police led to an arrest warrant for Alves, and he was taken into custody.

Alves' next scheduled court appearance is on June 6.
