BRIDGEWATER (WBSM) — A Bridgewater man who served as a substitute teacher at schools in the community has been arrested on child pornography charges.

Robert L. Wood, 26, was arrested today by Bridgewater Police after a month-long investigation, according to Police Chief Christopher Delmonte.

Delmonte said that the investigation began when investigators received “a cyber tip regarding a social media account possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material files.”

That led the investigators to Wood, who was taken into custody today without incident. He is charged with possession of child pornography and distributing material of a child in a sexual act.

He was expected to be arraigned today in Brockton District Court.

Bridgewater-Raynham Superintendent of Schools Ryan Powers sent out an email to members of the school community acknowledging that Wood did work as a substitute teacher, but did not use his name.

“This individual served as a substitute for the district, working sporadically since he began in October of 2024,” Powers wrote. “Over this time, he subbed at the high school and at our two middle schools.”

He said “Bridgewater Police shared they have no reason to believe that any of our students are involved.”
