The Apponequet Lakers have always had trouble getting by Dighton-Rehoboth, falling to the Falcons for the past four straight years. But this past Saturday, they no trouble at all taking control of the South Coast Conference’s A Division by blanking D-R, 29-0.
It was the second straight shutout for the 2-0 Lakers.
Running back Matt Michael had two touchdowns on the day, and finished with 68 yards on 12 carries. Westin Cohen added 68 yards more yards and a touchdown on 12 carries, while Troy Nanfelt got the ball eight times for 52 yards and a score. Quarterback Cam Costa rushed the ball 10 times for 63 yards, and also went 2-for-5 for 34 yards.

Sophomore running back Chris Martin scored three touchdowns and had 117 yards on nine carries as Dartmouth defeated visiting rival Bishop Stang 48-0 on Friday night. Stang, which had just five first downs in the game and turned the ball over three times, managed just 117 yards of total offense.
GNB Voc-Tech got into the win column with a 27-8 victory over visiting Seekonk. Sean Aldrich scored three touchdowns for the Bears, while Nick Richard added the other score. Matt Hill had two sacks as Voc-Tech put on a dominant defensive effort.

New Bedford got 94 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries from Hector Diaz, but it wasn’t enough as the Whalers fell to host Taunton, 37-20, on Friday afternoon. Freshman quarterback Brendan Costa went 10-for-16 for 199 yards and two touchdowns, both to Kevin Nunes, for the Whalers.

Old Colony also got their first win Saturday afternoon, with 476 total yards in a 46-18 win over Cape Cod Tech. Ryan Farias ran for 124 yards and a score, while Jake Pringle was 13-of-20 for 246 yards with four touchdown passes.

Old Rochester also improved to 2-0 on the season Saturday night with a 35-6 win over Case. The Bulldogs had 367 total yards of offense, with sophomore running back Darien Dumond claiming 99 of those on 15 carries. He also scored a touchdown, and caught two passes for 31 yards. Raekwon Phillips had 79 yards and two touchdowns on four carries.
