Freetown Police were called to two accident scenes Thursday afternoon, both involving school buses.

Lieutenant Steven Abbott says the first collision took place around 3:15 p.m. when the bus was side swiped by an oncoming vehicle on Keene Road in East Freetown, that vehicle then fled the scene.

No injuries were reported.

The second collision took place in Assonet at the intersection of Beach Street and East Public Street.

Abbott says a Nissan Altima was driving along Beach Street when it approached the intersection of East Public Street at 4:10 p.m.

The school bus was turning on East Public Street at the same time, and the 33-year-old man driving the Nissan was unable to avoid a collision with the bus due to icy road conditions.

One child on the bus suffered an asthma attack but fortunately that child's grandparent was immediately available with an inhaler.

No other injuries were reported.
