Pierce Beach Park in Somerset will be hosting a Pumpkin Festival on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Araujo Farms in Dighton will provide a bin of pumpkins for the event with about 200 and 225 pumpkins, said Recreation Director Barry Fontaine.

Children will also have the opportunity to pick up the pumpkins at the baseball field at Pierce Beach Park, where they will be arranged as they would be in a pumpkin patch. The children will be able to take the pumpkins to tables to carve before the pumpkins are placed on the beach and illuminated, said Fontaine. The jack-o-lantern illuminations is new this year, and spectators should be able to view the illuminated pumpkins from Riverside Avenue.

According to South Coast Today.com, a costume contest will take place at the festival and the winners will receive gift certificates.

The Right Note band, a classic rock band consisting of youth musicians from a Swansea music studio, will perfom at the Pumpkin Festival.

The festival will also have face painting, rides on the Recreation Department train, candy bags that will be handed out, and popcorn.
