The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Bristol County.

Officials says Doppler Radar indicates a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.

Warnings have also been in issued in Southwestern Plymouth County, Southern Norfolk County, and Bristol County in Rhode Island Northern Newport County in Rhode Island and Providence County in Rhode Island.

Impacted communities include New Bedford, Brockton, Fall River, Taunton, Dartmouth, Randolph, North Attleborough,Stoughton, Warwick, R.I., Cranston, R.I. Pawtucket, R.I., Providence, R.I. East Providence, R.I. Woonsocket, R.I., Coventry, R.I. Cumberland, R.I. North Providence, R.I., South Kingstown, R.I. West Warwick, R.I. and Johnston, R.I.

Officials say that while they are not likely, short lived tornadoes are possible in addition to significant wind damage.

Residents are being advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of your home or business.

Torrential rainfall also occurred during these storms and motorists are being told to not drive through flooded roads.

The warning will be in effect until 7:45 a.m.
