If three weeks of self-quarantine and nonstop cooking has had you thinking, “I wish a food truck would just stop in front of my house right now,” we have good news.

Mama Deb’s Italian Food Truck is currently traveling through neighborhoods near you. Based in Middleboro, the mobile restaurant offers your favorite Italian comfort foods with the convenience of online ordering. “We set up for about two hours at lunchtime and dinner time at different locations that ask us to come, so they are scheduled in advance,” said owner Deb Doyle. “We let people know when we have neighborhood slots open and ask them to message us if they’re interested in us coming.”

We’re talking fried ravioli, fried zucchini sticks, chicken parmigiana subs, meatball subs, frozen pizza, and more. You may have even seen Mama Deb’s Sweet Italian Sauce in the “Locally Made” section at 15 Christmas Tree shops in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, including the one in North Dartmouth.

Mama Deb’s posts the times and locations for the truck on the Facebook page each week to let people know where and when they’ll be operating during the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak. They ask customers to adhere to CDC safety guidelines as well. “People have been really great at social distancing at the truck,” said Doyle. “We have cones out to mark the six feet of separation, and gloves and hand sanitizers for customers. I am a cancer survivor so we take a lot of sanitary precautions to keep our truck space safe. Any cash we get is thrown into a box, sanitized, and left in a secluded spot for a few days before we even touch it again. So crazy, but it’s a must!”

Mama Deb’s is considering doing dinners a couple of nights a week in neighborhoods when things return back to ‘normal.’ “I think it will be fun when the warmer weather comes and people aren’t afraid to go out. It will get people to gather together again.”
