It's one of my favorite times to score some great deals on things like games, toys and hidden treasures that get a second life when you take them home.
No. 1: Have a Strong Sign
First and foremost, have a good sign. My internal hatred for a small sign that looks as though it's written with a pen or pencil is strong.
Grab a brightly-colored posterboard. Don't overdo it with the text. Someone driving by has a quick glance to see "YARD SALE SAT. 9-2" with an arrow or street name. That's it.

No. 2: Do It Now
Summer is the perfect time for a yard sale. The weather is great and between summer break and vacations, you have a much larger audience.
No. 3: Clean Looks Good
It may seem like a no-brainer, but please, wipe down your items that are hitting the curb.
A quick dusting or once-over with a Clorox wipe can go a long way and make for more sales.
No. 4: Sort and Organize
When similar items are grouped together, it's not only aesthetically pleasing, it also makes it easier for both the buyer and seller.
If someone likes an item and sees similar things on the same table, they may buy more. If you, as the seller, are trying to locate something, you'll be able to find it with ease.

A little care and consideration for arranging your items nicely can go a long way.
No. 5: Bonus Buys
If you have little ones, this is a great way to get them involved. They'll feel so proud selling baked good and treats like brownies, cookies, water, coffee, and of course, a lemonade stand.
They're all great ways to make a few extra bucks and even keep your shoppers around a little while longer.
