Police say a 61-year-old Connecticut woman struck by lightning at a Massachusetts beach has died.

Ipswich police said in a statement that Marguerite Tomany, of North Grosvenor Dale village in Thompson, Connecticut, was one of two women struck by lightning at Crane Beach on Saturday when severe thunderstorms moved through the area.

The other woman, described only as a 69-year-old resident of Concord, remains in critical condition.

Neither woman had a pulse when emergency personnel reached the beach. They were revived before being taken the hospital.

A Lawrence man was also struck by lightning on Saturday. Eric Ibell, a father of six, tells WBZ-TV he felt an ``unbelievable'' pain when lightning struck his thumb and traveled up his arm. He says he may have nerve damage in his shoulder.
