WAREHAM — On Monday, September 25th at approximately 7:30 pm, Wareham Police officers responded to the area of the Post Office on Main Street regarding a reported motor vehicle accident involving a male pedestrian who was possibly struck at the rear of his parked vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers noticed that a vehicle traveling on Main Street collided into the rear of a parked vehicle, which had been moved well into the roadway from a marked parking space, due to the collision impact. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.

Officers also observed an adult male lying on the ground where the vehicle was parked. The male, a 20-year-old Wareham resident, received treatment for minor scrapes and bruises from Wareham Fire Department and Wareham EMS personnel. At this time, investigation regarding whether or not the male, who is not being named at this time, was actually struck by the moving vehicle.

Investigation of the incident determined the driver and sole occupant of the moving vehicle, 61-year-old Christine Andrews of Wareham, was intoxicated. Andrews was not injured, and was placed under arrest at the scene. She is charged with operating under the infludence, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violations.

Andrews was arraigned on the criminal charges at Wareham District Court Tuesday morning.
