WAREHAM — A head-on crash this morning in Wareham is under investigation.

At about 8:20 a.m. this morning, Wareham Police, Fire and EMS responded to Sandwich Road for a report of a head-on motor vehicle collision. At the scene, emergency responders located two heavily-damaged vehicles in the brush off the side of the road.

Wareham Fire and EMS removed an individual from one vehicle, and they were transported to Tobey Hospital with unknown injuries. Sandwich Road was closed to through traffic for about one hour while emergency responders worked at the scene.

Police say initial reports are that one vehicle tried to pass another, and then struck a vehicle in the opposite lane, causing the accident. The investigation is ongoing and being conducted by Officer Malik Wilkes and Sergeant Paul Somers.
