Description

Join United Way of Greater Fall River, United Partners for a Healthier Community, and United Neighbors at the Henry Lord Community School's TRUCE Junior Program to launch the first UNITED WE READ program.

Volunteers will spend 30 minutes on Wednesday afternoons reading with small groups of 3-5th graders for a series of weeks. Volunteers will arrive at 3 pm, the reading program will run from 3:15 to 3:45. Volunteers are encouraged to participate weekly.

There will be no TRUCE Junior programming on 11/20, 11/27, or 12/25 during Sessions one. There will be no TRUCE Junior programming on 1/22, 2/12, or 2/19 during Session two. There will be no TRUCE Junior programming on 4/15, 4/22, or 5/20 during Session three.

All texts will correspond with the "Choose Love" curriculum themes chosen by Fall River Public Schools. Themes include Forgiveness, Compassion, Kindness, and Courage. Volunteers will be provided with text and activity options each week. Training before the start of volunteering will be provided.

All volunteers will be CORI/SORI checked by Fall River Public Schools before the start of their service.
