Fall River Schools Postpones Durfee Homecoming Game Due to Altercation
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — An off-campus altercation on Thursday has led Fall River Public Schools to postpone tonight’s homecoming football game at B.M.C. Durfee High School until tomorrow.
The game will now be played at noon on Saturday.
Superintendent Dr. Tracy Curley said the decision to postpone tonight’s game against Plymouth South until tomorrow was made “out of an abundance of caution and following the advice of law enforcement” due to safety concerns related to the off-campus, after school hours altercation Thursday that involved Fall River students and others.
“While this incident is not directly connected to our school community alone, we believe it is in everyone's best interest to take extra precautions to ensure the safety and enjoyment of this special event,” Curley said.
“We understand how much this game means to our students and the Durfee community, and we thank you for your understanding and continued support,” she said.
