WAREHAM — The region's first offering of the purchase of retail recreational marijuana is slated for Friday.

Verilife of Wareham at 112 Main Street will be opening at 10 a.m. and selling a variety of recreational marijuana including pre-rolled products, vapor cartridges, edibles, oils, and more.

Shelley Stormo, Executive Director of Verilife Wareham, says customers looking to purchase recreational marijuana products will be best served by pre-ordering through an online service.

"That way, they're guaranteed to get the selection they want," says Stormo. "If they wait to order until they get to the store, there may be things that we run out of or don't have available at that time."

Customers can pre-order products through Leafly, either through the service's website or their smartphone app.

Those looking to purchase recreational marijuana will not be allowed to park at the store's location, however. Only clients purchasing medical marijuana products and those with handicap placards will be allowed to park in Verilife's parking lot. All other customers must park in the parking lot of Water Wizz at 3031 Cranberry Highway, about three miles away. A shuttle will be running to and from Verilife throughout the day.

Stormo adds that retail recreational marijuana is a cash-only business right now, as a federal ban on marijuana remains in place. She says customers might want to leave the credit cards at home.

"We do ask that people come prepared with the amount of money that they intend to spend. We do have an ATM onsite."

But Stormo predicts that the ATM may eventually run out of money during business hours on Friday, as she expects long lines all day.

Customers must be at least 21 years old to purchase recreational marijuana products. A number of knowledgeable representatives will be on hand to assist customers with their purchases, along with any questions they may have.
