United Way Day Of Caring Keeps Teens Busy
The United Way Youth Day of Caring involves more than 150 students from four area high schools, volunteering for the day at non-profit organizations across the region.
Technology teacher Christine Massoud was leading a group of students from City On The Hill Charter School on Friday. They were doing some landscaping at the Harbor House Family Shelter on Shawmut Avenue.
Massoud tells WBSM News, students can learn a lot by volunteering, giving something back to their community, and exposing themselves to something other than the classroom.
Students from New Bedford High School, Fairhaven High, and Global Learning Charter Public School also took part in the event.
