UMass Dartmouth Tuition, Room and Board Going Up
Like everything else, the cost of higher education is going up.
As expected, the University of Massachusetts Board of Trustees has voted to follow the recommendation of its Committee on Administration and Finance and will increase tuition for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Tuition for in-state undergraduates will increase by 2.5 percent for the 2024-2025 academic year to $17,006. That represents a $415 increase per student at the Amherst campus.
The increase will be slightly less at the Dartmouth, Lowell and Boston campuses. Amherst is the school's "flagship" campus.

Out-of-state undergrads at Amherst face a three percent tuition hike. That amounts to a $1,156 increase to $39,693.
State House News Service (SHNS) says, "The system's three other undergraduate campuses will implement a 2.5 percent increase for out-of-state students."
Graduate students at UMass Dartmouth will see a one percent tuition increase, while tuition for graduate students at Amherst, Boston and Lowell campuses will increase by 2.5 percent.
The Board of Trustees has also voted to raise room and board rates. SHNS says, "Students at the Amherst campus will see a 4.5 percent increase, to $16,128, and the Boston, Dartmouth, and Lowell campuses will have room and board fees increase by 2.3, 3.6 and 3.7 percent respectively."
The University of Massachusetts expects the tuition and room and board fee increases to generate approximately $10 million.
UMass says efforts to centralize procurement and other administrative functions have resulted in $120 million in savings over the last few years, "contributing to its ability to hold tuition adjustments below inflation."
The Board of Trustees approved a 2.5 percent tuition increase for the 2023-2024 academic year.
