Fairhaven Police have arrested two people they say are responsible for several car break-ins.

Sgt. Kevin Kobza says 18-year-old Brandon Pimental of Bridge Street and a 17-year-old juvenile were seen breaking into an unlocked mini-van on Francis Street Tuesday night. The pair left the scene after being confronted by a witness, who provided a description of them to police.

Pimental and the juvenile were found a short time later by police. A quick search of the suspects turned up loose change, tanning lotion, and two pairs of headphones.

Further investigation revealed the pair had broken into three cars, all of which were unlocked at the time.

Pimental and the juvenile have been arraigned in New Bedford District Court on charges of breaking into a motor vehicle, larceny under $250, and disturbing the peace.

Police are strongly urging people to remove valuables from their vehicles and to properly lock them.
