SouthCoast Surprise: Jim Belushi Spotted in Fairhaven and New Bedford
If you happened to be out and about enjoying the gorgeous weather on the SouthCoast Friday, June 5, there's a chance you may have crossed paths with a Hollywood star.
Actor, comedian, musician and now cannabis entrepreneur Jim Belushi made a pair of appearances in the area, first stopping by BASK Cannabis in Fairhaven before heading across the harbor to Cisco Kitchen + Bar in New Bedford's South End.
The unexpected celebrity sighting caught some locals by surprise, including my buddy Tyler Gomes, who was shopping at BASK when he suddenly found himself face-to-face with the former star of According to Jim.
"I looked up and thought, 'Oh man, you're Jim Belushi,'" Gomes told me.

From Television Star to Cannabis Entrepreneur
Belushi has remained a familiar face for decades thanks to his acting career, most notably starring in the sitcom According to Jim, which ran for eight seasons. While many fans still associate him with television and comedy, Belushi has spent recent years building another venture through his cannabis brand and farm.

That connection brought him to Fairhaven, where he hosted a one-day meet-and-greet at BASK Cannabis to promote his new line of product. The dispensary has become somewhat of a celebrity hotspot in recent years, welcoming several high-profile guests connected to the cannabis industry.
A Summer Night at Cisco
After his Fairhaven appearance, Belushi made his way to Cisco Kitchen + Bar, where he joined musicians for a lively performance that could practically be heard across the harbor.

The music drifted over the water on what may have been one of the most beautiful Friday nights of the year so far. With warm temperatures, clear skies and a packed crowd enjoying the waterfront atmosphere, it felt like the unofficial kickoff to summer.
You Never Know Who You'll Run Into
The SouthCoast has welcomed its share of celebrities over the years, but there's always something amusing about spotting someone unexpectedly while running everyday errands.
