Trial In 2008 Fairhaven Murder Nearing An End

The future of a New Bedford man is in the hands of a Fall River jury.

Twenty-three year old Brandon Callender is on trial for murder in the April 2008 fatal stabbing of 30 year old Joshua Fitzgerald of Fairhaven, during a melee outside the Fairhaven VFW.

Judge Robert Kane began jury selection on March 19th.

According to the District Attorney's Office, closing arguments were heard on Monday.  The jury deliberated for a short time Monday afternoon without reaching a verdict.  The panel was sent home, and will return to the Fall River Justice Center Tuesday morning.
