This Marion Flag Day Concert Is Kicking Off SouthCoast’s America 250 Celebration
The Spirit of '76 is alive as Southern New England celebrates America's semiquincentennial grandly, with fireworks in New Bedford and Boston, parades, Tall Ships, reenactments, and more.
The nation's 250th birthday bash, dubbed "America 250," is one we won't soon forget.
To help kick off the summer of celebration, the Tri-County Symphonic Band presents its 23rd Annual Pops concert, "Flag Day: 250 Years of Independence."

A SouthCoast Tradition Meets a Historic Milestone
As you might expect, since it is Flag Day and the semiquincentennial, the concert will brim with rousing patriotic music, including John Williams' classic "The Liberty Fanfare," and John Philip Sousa's "The Stars and Stripes Forever," among many others.
Under the Grand Tent: Event Logistics and Scholarship Impact
"Once again, we will be under the Grand Tent at Tabor Academy (Marion, Massachusetts) for our Annual Pops Concert to benefit the John R. Pandolfi Music Scholarship Fund," according to the Tri-County Symphonic Band website. "This year's event will be all about the 250 years of American Independence."
The concert promises to be one of MA250's premier semiquincentennial events.
Supporting Young Musicians in Southeastern Massachusetts
Formed in 1962, the Tri-County Symphonic Band has been "part of the cultural life of Southeastern Massachusetts." The band includes "professional and fine amateur musicians, including talented students from Bristol, Plymouth, and Barnstable counties."
The Tri-County Music Association, Inc, supports the Tri-County Symphonic Band in "presenting high-quality musical performances" while encouraging young people to "pursue careers in music education."
