There's no way a third-party candidate can win in the upcoming election, yet Republican William Kristol pitched the idea to draft an independent candidate, like Mitt Romney, to splinter the vote to derail Donald Trump from possibly winning the presidential race. Romney insists he won't run but was being courted by Kristol in a private meeting recently. Pushing an well known republican as an independent candidate is such a wrongheaded idea because it would assure a win to Clinton, if the idea caught on.

Kristol has been working informally for weeks to seek out a prominent political or military figure who could be drafted into the general-election contest, such as retired Marine Gen. James N. Mattis, who recently declined such overtones.

It's outrageous that establishment republicans are publicly stiff-arming Donald Trump for some mystery candidate who they think will be a better choice! Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Kristol and his minions are stupid for this idea. I'm just saying they've got bad luck when it comes to thinking.
