These Rhode Island Halloween Events Are Perfect For Kid Free Fun
While many parents seek out less scary Halloween events for their little ones, some would rather get a good scare themselves this season.
For those parents we say look to Newport and Bristol, where plenty of Halloween happenings for the over 18 crowd are being planned over the next few weeks.
From upscale costume parties in stunning waterfront mansions to super scary ghost tours of historic sites, there's a spooky soiree for everyone to enjoy in this society scene.
Newport has been known for it's elaborate summer parties inside waterfront mansions that have stood for decades. The society scene of the Gilded Age is still heralded in tours and TV shows alike.

But what if you could enjoy a society party yourself?
This Halloween you can with the Menagerie at the Mansion party on October 25 inside The Vanderbilt on Mary Street.
Described as an "ode to Lady Caroline Astor’s lavish New York City fêtes in the 1800s" it's a chance to get all dressed up and enjoy an open bar, passed hor d'oeuvres and performances from the No Ring Circus.
If 1800s attire isn't your thing however there are other mansion options.
Like the 4th annual Night at the Mansion inside Linden Place in Bristol. This 18+ party asks guests to dress up in their "most creative costume and immerse yourself in the Halloween spirit."
There's all sorts of supernatural fun planned, from tarot card readings to a mentalist known for his ability to read minds. Plus the mansion's gardens will be illuminated as a haunted wonderland and creepy scenes will be set up throughout the historic 1810 mansion.

You can also skip the mansions altogether and go right for the scary stuff inside Historic Fort Adams.
Construction on the fort began in 1824 and over the last 200 years plenty of ghost stories have been told about the military outpost.
Now you can have a chance to prove if they're real with a paranormal investigation tour of the fort on October 25. Expert investigators will take those brave enough to venture into the forts tunnels for a four-hour tour to experience the paranormal side for Fort Adams.
This tour is billed as bring for the 12 plus crowd, though I know my 12-year-old self never would have braved it. So kids or no kids, there is lots of history to explore this Halloween in Rhode Island.
