Several Massachusetts beach towns are among the East Coast's best, according to a prominent travel publication, just in time for the summer touring season. Are you taking notes?

Condé Nast Traveler identifies 20 East Coast beach towns that are "worth a visit" from Florida to Maine. Three Massachusetts beach towns appear on the list, as well as one in Rhode Island.

"Whether you are looking to lay out on the sand in summer or prefer walking along the water spotting wildlife and collecting rocks, the shores of the East Coast have a little something for everyone," according to Condé Nast Traveler.

"From charming, historic New England towns to tropical Southern getaways, no matter your vibe, there's so much to explore," the publication wrote.

Massachusetts Destinations Dominate the Rankings

Nantucket, Massachusetts, tops Condé Nast Traveler's list. The island community was voted among the Best Islands in the World by the magazine's readers in 2025.

Rockport, Massachusetts, is also on Condé Nast Traveler's list of the best East Coast beach towns. "There are many (Massachusetts) towns worth visiting, but Rockport is a favorite among travelers," the article stated.

Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts, on Martha's Vineyard, wins praise for its "colorful gingerbread houses," which are "straight out of a storybook."

More New England Coastal Favorites to Visit

Newport, Rhode Island, also scores a spot in Condé Nast Traveler's top 20. The magazine raves about the Newport Mansions, the famous Cliff Walk, and the Newport Folk Festival.

Other New England beach towns make Condé Nast Traveler's list of the best, including Bar Harbor, Maine, Kennebunkport, Maine, Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, and Madison, Connecticut.
