The Soaps Are Getting Bumped for Impeachment Hearings [OPINION]

Nikolas Cassadine is back roaming the streets of Port Charles. Thomas Forrester gets dumped into a vat of acid on The Bold and the Beautiful. A new bad boy hunk-a-rama has popped up on The Young and the Restless. God only knows what is happening on Days. And it could be days before you find out.

While the Democrats and their desire to remove President Trump from office have already worn out their welcome with most rational-thinking Americans, they are about to enter a whole new sphere on Wednesday when the phony impeachment hearings begin and will be covered LIVE on television.

It's usually only the cable news networks that carry congressional hearings – but not this time. The entire bowl of alphabet soup – ABC, NBC, and CBS – plan to carry the thing live as well, and that means normal viewing habits are about to be screwed around with.

The networks will pre-empt the daily soaps, game shows, and gabfests for politics and that just ain't gonna go over well with a whole lot of people. Those who don't watch the cable news networks because they either don't care or have had enough of this lunacy are about to have their space invaded, and they are gonna squawk loudly and clearly.

I guarantee the networks will be flooded with calls and emails from angry and loyal fans of daytime television.

The Democrats and their pals at the networks may have just figured out the best way to alienate what's left of their low-information base by messing with the soaps and with Ellen. The gates of hell are about to open. There is nothing quite like a soap fan scorned. Don't say I didn't warn you.
