Thanksgiving Turkey and Trimmings for YMCA

1420 WBSM has teamed up with the Gleason Family YMCA to help supply all the local families in need this Thanksgiving holiday.

For the past two years, the Gleason Family YMCA in Wareham has served up 225 turkey dinner supply kits to families in the community leading up to Thanksgiving, thanks to a generous community sponsor.

This year, however, the company who led the charge in supporting this effort will no longer be involved, leaving a waiting list of families who are not guaranteed food for the holiday. YMCA has all of the fixin's figured out; the turkeys are the only missing ingredient.

It is a real community effort with Sharing the Harvest Community Farm (In Dartmouth) donating some fresh produce, area organizations donating the various components and then a big group of volunteers pack the boxes and manage pick-up by area families. - Kate Levin, YMCA

The hard cost is roughly $25 per turkey dinner. Our goal is to raise $4,000 in time to help supply all the local families in need this Thanksgiving holiday.
