Taunton’s Former Silver City Galleria Lands Major New Tenant

Taunton's Silver City Galleria was once a hub for SouthCoast residents. It was a place to shop for clothes, music, books, and toys, grab a meal, catch a film, see Santa and the Easter Bunny, or even take a course at the on-site Bristol Community College satellite campus.

The mall was reduced to dust in 2021 after closing in 2020, but the future is rising through the rubble that was once one of the region's most popular shopping centers.

After several false starts, the property is being redeveloped into what the Boston Business Journal's Grant Welker called a "logistics complex called Silver City Business Park." Welker said the new owner "has secured the first tenant for its new industrial development."

Primo Brands Becomes First Major Tenant

COSTAR.com reported, "Primo Brands, a publicly traded, North American branded beverage company with headquarters in Tampa, Florida, and Stamford, Connecticut, signed a full-building lease for Building 3 in the Silver City Business Park, a newly constructed distribution facility in Taunton, Massachusetts."

Primo Brands owns companies including Poland Spring, Pure Life, Saratoga Spring Water, Arrowhead, Deer Park, and Ice Mountain, according to its website.

Welker said the Silver City Business Park is "planned for a total of more than 1 million square feet of space with an ability to configure space to suit tenants," and that the next phase of construction "is expected to be underway within the next 12 months."

Remembering the Mall’s SouthCoast Legacy

Many have pleasant memories of the Silver City Galleria, including the entertainment complex Round 1, which was a family mainstay for six years until the mall closed.
